In Memory of Victoria Aguirre

Victoria was born in Quito, Ecuador third of five siblings on April 27, 1939. From an early age she was smart, kind, full of life and fiercely independent. She loved education and despite being born in a time when most women did not pursue academic endeavors, she defied all odds. She attended the prestigious private all girls school Colego La Providencia and high school Gran Colombia. Upon graduation, she had every intention of attending post secondary but despite having the academic acumen required, finances and gender prevented that dream. Victoria never forgot children in need and throughout her life always gave back to marginalized children. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider honoring our mother’s memory by supporting Because I Am a Girl campaign via Plan International Canada. The program gives at risk girls in developing countries the right to food, healthcare and education.
