Girls living in the least developed countries in the world face a new crisis. The devastating impacts of COVID-19 are threatening to undo decades of progress and work toward empowering and supporting girls and young women in these vulnerable communities.

Girls and women are also at risk of enduring the worst of the pandemic’s long-term impact, including: increased risk of gender-based violence; loss of jobs and educational opportunities; exposure to the virus due to their roles as both frontline health care workers and primary caregivers in homes, engagement in unsafe work and losing access to critical health care and safe spaces.
